How to Give Feedback to a Fanfiction

Critiquing a fanfiction as a beta reader involves providing constructive feedback that respects the genre and the author's creative choices while helping improve the story.

My role as a beta reader is to help the author improve their work by offering feedback on what works and what doesn't.

In this thread, we will discuss and exchange tips on how to be a better beta reader and give the needed feedback for the author.

For further context, I provided a blog on the type of fiction I've received, the initial feedback I have in my first expression, in the technical and creative level.

It's an honor to be someone else's beta reader. But, I'm not sure myself if the ones I provided are sufficient. I also made a mental note of what the author may or may not want to hear since it's a hobby and the seriousness differs from person to person. I avoid being seemingly offputting by schooling someone who trusted me with their work.
