Ubuntu/Debian Alternative
Moving my bulletin post to the Forums before it expires (Topic was from 10 days ago, July 15th). I'd like to thank everyone that commented and suggested distros I should try out!
My Original Bulletin Post albeit Paraphrased:
I'll be distrohopping from Debian, and I have been trying since the past years when I'm avoiding using Windows for privacy reasons. I wonder if forks or clone of Debian that I can hop onto.
I can no longer support base Ubuntu or Debian. I'm contemplating on switching to Arch, but against it because I really don't like assembling it like an ikea furniture. Anyone here can recommend a good distro I'd migrate to?
Reasons being is due to a controversy surrounding a DebConf2025 spokesperson. (Note: I tried to find an article from Fandom Pulse or whatever the name of that substack, other than that, it seems to be Lunduke was able to report this.)
Reclaiming the Internet group gave a generous recommendation on the kind of distros I'd ought to try out. Thanks btw
Users Ozzwald, ExMachina, rosezyxx suggested Arch Linux. As one explained it's stupid easy to install nowadays. Others say the assembling is part of the experience! (Oh no)
User Virtual Insanity did suggest a Debian fork, Devuan, with removed systemd and seemed to be supportive of XLibre. A Debian derivative is BunsenLabs Linux suggested by NosyCat.
I see mentions Linux Mint which I did use the Cinnamon version not too long ago! I'd give thanks for honza, val_screamz, and others for this suggestion.
Alongside Mint, Alekss, suggested Fedora KDE which a distro I have heard of but never tried it out even in a VM before (again, thanks for the suggestion!)
Random but I found this website that chooses a random Linux distro distro.moe. There are some retro themed ones, I suppose I would want to take a look at them too. I'd like everyone to share their thoughts (even to those who never used Linux before and just thought "hey, this one looked cool!")
